Ariel Rivera-Vicente joined Ferraiuoli LLC in 2014 as an Associate Attorney for the firm’s Intellectual Property Department. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Marine Biology, Summa Cum Laude, from the University of Puerto Rico, a Master’s Degree in Neurobiology, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Hawaii, and a joint JD-MBA in Finance, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Puerto Rico.

Rivera-Vicente’s current practice is focused on strategic management, protection and commercialization of intellectual property for tech and design related industries (i.e. product design, product packaging, website design, user experience design, architecture, fashion, and art). Mr. Rivera-Vicente helps corporations and universities build and monetize well-rounded intellectual property portfolios that cover their product’s’ functionality and design. This strategy has helped multiple clients increased their market value and achieve effective differentiation from industry peers.

Before becoming an Intellectual Property Attorney, Mr. Rivera-Vicente worked as a business and tech consultant for government and private sector clients. Building on his experience and education, attorney Rivera-Vicente provides interdisciplinary legal advice with comprehensive understanding of his clients’ business models and market needs. Ultimately, Mr. Rivera understands the importance of strategic decisions that increase a venture’s tangible and intangible value.

As a law student, Mr. Rivera specialized in intellectual property and worked as a Trademark Case Officer for the Puerto Rico Trademark Office. Additionally, attorney Rivera was a member of the Intellectual Property and Entrepreneurship Legal Aid Clinic, where he advised inventors, entrepreneurs, and startups on a variety of patent, trademark, copyright and licensing issues.

During his graduate studies, attorney Rivera was a Presidential Scholar for the University of Puerto Rico, and a Fellow for the National Institute of Health. His Master’s research on the neurobiology and electrosensitive organs of hammerhead sharks was published in the Public Library of Science, the premier open access journal for scientific literature.
