On March 12, 2020, the Governor of Puerto Rico signed an executive order declaring a State of Emergency due to the impact of the coronavirus in Puerto Rico (OE-2020-020). As a result of this situation, on March 15, 2020 the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources (DNER) issued Administrative Order Number 2020-03 (OE 2020-03), which extends the expiration and related terms of the following permits, certifications, franchises, licenses and scheduled hearings, until April 30, 2020:

  • The renewal terms of permits, certifications, franchises and endorsements issued by the DRNA;
  • The validity of all approved boat licenses;
  • Renewal terms of hunting and fishing licenses; and
  • Administrative Hearings that were to be held between March 16, 2020 and March 30, 2020 (currently suspended), and all deadlines that were set to expire during this period.

Additionally, the Order indefinitely suspends hunting seasons and closes all naturales reserves, state forests, wildlife refuges and recreational areas administered by the DNER, until further notice.
